“This is the best United Hardware Trade Show we’ve been at” comments Jonathan Mooney of Beko, at the close of the March United Hardware Tradeshow, which was held Citywest Convention Centre on Wednesday 13th February 2013.  His sentiments are echoed by fellow exhibitors and visitors alike, who despite the snow which fell overnight on Tuesday 12th February, made it safely to the show.

As well as a very exciting trade show, there were also a series of guest speakers who were all able to give their audience a real sense of the bigger DIY & retail merchandising picture.  David McDonnell from Visual ID, Maria O’Neill & Keith Harford from Maria O’Neill Merchandising certainly left everyone with plenty to think about & great ideas for the future to consider.

Visitors to the show always look forward to browsing the popular new product zone, featuring the latest innovative products to market. Winning a United Hardware Best New Product of the Show Award bestows huge prestige on the product, but even more important is the commercial benefi­t it delivers. The winner of the Best New Product of the Show Award went to Carbery Plastics for their innovative Rota Composter.  Voted for by the attendees this product was designed in conjunction with amateur gardeners.  Mark O’Connell comments “we’ve looked closely at what gardeners actually require. We’ve eliminated the requirement for home assembly and we’ve taken care to design a product, which keeps rodents at bay. We’ve engineered a product which doesn’t just look good, but can produce great compost in as little as 6 weeks”.

David Farrell, Group Commercial Manager comments “I wish to thank all the suppliers for participating in this show & previous shows. I also want to encourage those same suppliers & new suppliers to renew their support again for our tradeshow in October 2013. I acknowledge the very di­fficult economic conditions that currently face both suppliers & our Members. Working together we can overcome the trading di­fficulties which we all face. This has been a great start for our 2013 tradeshows but of course we always want more. We are looking forward to building & improving on what appears to be a good formula.  We’ve already got a list of improvements to put in place & we’ll be asking for suggestions from both suppliers & Members on how we can make it easier & more productive for them”.
